AI Use Cases in BSS: Where the Transformation Is Already Delivering Results
Churn prediction, sales, customer care: the AI use cases in BSS already generating real value for telcos. With concrete examples across every domain.

Talking about AI in the abstract is easy. What’s interesting is looking at the AI use cases in BSS where the technology is already generating concrete value. The TM Forum report maps dozens of applications across all BSS domains, from business intelligence to revenue management. Here are the most relevant ones.
Churn prediction. This is one of the most mature use cases. AI models analyze behavioral data (service usage, payment history, support interactions, consumption patterns) and assign a risk score to each customer. This allows retention efforts to be prioritized before a customer decides to leave, not after. The key difference from the traditional approach is that the model learns and adjusts continuously.
Customer management with generative AI. In the customer care flow, what TM Forum calls “Case to Resolution,” generative AI transforms every touchpoint. Virtual assistants on digital channels guide customers in natural language, without forcing them to navigate menus. In the call center, a co-pilot suggests the most appropriate response to a human agent in real time, pulls up customer history, and proposes the next step. The result: faster resolution, lower operational cost, better NPS.
Intelligent sales and marketing. In the “Market to Lead” and “Lead to Order” cycles, AI analyzes large volumes of data to identify opportunities, qualify leads, and personalize proposals. A sales co-pilot can generate product recommendations based on a prospect’s profile and suggest the best pricing strategy. Campaigns stop being mass-broadcast and become dynamic: the system determines the right message, channel, and timing in real time.
Automated revenue management. In billing and collections, AI detects anomalies before customers even notice them, automatically verifies billing integrity, and helps interpret complex invoices. Billing agents can answer specific questions about charge breakdowns without needing to escalate to a specialist.
AI-powered Business Assurance. Fraud detection and revenue protection become proactive: models analyze patterns across millions of transactions in real time to flag anomalous behavior before the impact becomes significant.
The key across all these cases is that AI doesn’t replace processes; it redesigns them. In the final blog, we close the series with the vision of a fully AI-Ready BSS and the next steps for telcos.
You’re halfway through the series. We recommend reading from blog 1 for the full picture.
