The TV business is going through a substantial conceptual change that requires creativity. Competing with VOD offers, operators are looking for options to capture the subscribers’ interest. In this context, we find a renewing proposal: Next Generation TV (NGTV).
In its service model, the NGTV solution includes the activation of different types of Set-Top-Boxes that adapt to the various subscriber’s needs. Among them we find:
The Set-Top-Box Tivo Lite: includes an integrated cable modem connected to the IP WAN network. It allows the subscriber to watch video on demand (VOD) content, besides the Linear TV content received via QAM.
An alternative to the service is the combination of Set-Top-Box Tivo Gateway with a Tivo Mini Set-Top-Box. This mix allows receiving the content of Linear Television via QAM through the main STB Gateway. The subscriber can also receive VOD content by the Cable Modem connected to an IP network. This STB Gateway re-transmits the contents of Linear Television to the STB Mini Tivo, which can be more than one as seen in the diagram. At the same time, Tivo Mini STBs receive the VOD content from the Cable Modem to which they are connected in the LAN network.
From provisioning, the service complements the solution with T-Wizard mobile application. Also, an Orchestration component allows the activation of the Tivo STBs. This process is done through the identification of the box identifier using the barcode scanning. This way the field technician can then, confirm the installation process in each of the affected controllers.
The result of this method is a robust and integrated solution, which allows covering the different business scenarios. Also, enabling the execution not only of the activation/deactivation of the service. Further, it allows the addition of content packages, covering different maintenance cases, or addressing cases of suspension, reconnection or sending promotion or different services messages.

Through the complementation of last generation devices and system’s integration, it’s possible to get a quality service. Reduce operative costs and continue maintaining the focus in offering an attractive product for the most demanding clients, are other advantages.
